Our Horses

Our horses and ponies are by far our biggest asset.  They are the reason we can change lives through being silent but expressive teachers and motivators.  All the horses and ponies we use in our programmes are aged four upwards.  Whilst we do have horses and ponies under the age of four, we do not use these for our programmes to allow them time to develop and be trained at a pace suitable for them.  If you would like to sponsor one of our horses or ponies, please visit our Sponsor a Herd Member (add hyperlink to this page) page.  Meet our current herd:

My name is Xspita, and I am an Argentinian Polo Pony.  I was born in Argentina in 2005 before coming to the UK in 2012 and spent many years playing polo.

Sadly, the patron of the polo team I was part of died a few years ago and when the new patron also died I, along with the other polo ponies, became stuck in the probate system.

In 2024 the herd were divided into those who were deemed worthy of selling and those that weren’t.  Sadly, I was deemed not worthy of being sold and was put in a field with the others.  One day a nice lady called Sam arrived with a horse box and I was taken from Berkshire to the home of Equustrong UK to start my new life.

It took me a while to settle into my new life and surroundings, but I am now enjoying being ridden again and looking forward to working with uniformed public service workers and helping to make a difference in their lives.

My name is Misty, and I am a cob.

I did not have the best start in life.  I am coming up for 5 and have a son, Ace, who is almost 2.  We were both rescued when Ace was a week old, and I was very think.  About six months later we were both bought by the nice people at Equustrong UK.

When we first arrived, I was very scared, and the nice people left me for about 6 months to have some time to myself.  In the middle of 2024, I was backed and learnt quickly the pleasure of having people ride me.

I am looking forward to working with uniformed public service workers and helping to make a difference in their lives.

My name is Polly Pocket, and I am a falabella. I may be the small but what I lack in size I make up for in attitude!

When I am not trying to escape (hence my nickname Houdini) or be cheeky I enjoy a good scratch and a brush and going into the menage and learning new skills.

In 2022 I went to London to visit the Drum Horses of the Household Calvary; they were a little scary at first!

I am looking forward to visiting schools, nurseries, and meeting lots of children.

My name is Sparkle and I am a little grey pony.

I like to graze alongside my friends and when I am not doing that I love to go out into the school or having a nice brush.

However, when I first came to my new home, I was extremely nervous and scared.

I was badly abused in the past and my owners think I have PTSD.

I have heard stories where horses and humans with PTSD can work together and help each other, and I hope I can do this.
